More than 40 Tamil Village (GS) officers in Vanni staged a protest on Monday in front of the District Secretariat of Mullaiththeevu condemning the occupying Sinhala military for assaulting the GS officer of Kokkuth-thoduvaay Mr Jeevaratnam Jesuratnam on Sunday, when he went to inspect the illegal occupation by Sinhala fishermen, who have been brought from South by the occupying military of genocidal Sri Lanka. The violent Sinhala military officers had also seized the identity documents from the Tamil GS officer. The Sri Lankan State is accelerating Sinhala colonization with the aim of permanently wedging the demographic contiguity of the northern and eastern provinces at Kokkuth-thoduvaay, a strategic village situated in Mullaiththeevu district. Colombo regime is deploying SL Navy, Army, Police and various ministries to carry out the structural and demographic genocide.

Mr Jesuratnam went to the coastal strip to prepare a situation report after receiving repeated complaints from the Tamil fishermen. He was accompanied by another GS officer F. Tharmaseelan.

The protesting GS officers demanded the SL military to stay away from interfering in the civil administration.

The coastal stretch from Kokkuth-thoduvaay to Kokku'laay has the focus of Sinhala colonisation presently, as it is the key location for wedging the demographic contiguity of the North and East as well as direct communication between Mullaiththeevu and Trincomalee.

After the end of genocidal onslaught on Vanni in May 2009, the project of Sinhalicisation was intensified through the land link from the neighbouring Sinhala colony of Padaviya in Anuradhapura district and Ma'nalaa'ru (Weli-oya) division in Vavuniyaa district.

The Tamil villagers were uprooted from their native village for the first time on 23 December 1984 when the occupying SL military seized the area. Some of them resettled in 2011 after thirty years of displacement.

The Sri Lankan State-sponsored Sinhala colonisation has been taking place from the times of former SL presidents J.R. Jeyawardene and R. Premadasa. The colonisation was later blocked by the armed struggle of Eezham Tamils.

However, after the genocidal onslaught in 2009, the successive regimes in Colombo have accelerated the occupation of coastal strip and the farming lands of Eezham Tamils.

The SL military is patronising the extremist Buddhist monks who promote the Sinhalese from the North Western Province and other places in South to occupy the lands.

The SL Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development in Colombo has issued hundreds of fishing permits to Sinhala fishermen occupying Kokku'laay.

The division has now wedged the contiguity between the Tamil districts Vavuniyaa in the Northern Province and Trincomalee in the Eastern Province, while it established contiguity with the Sinhala district Anuradhapura in the North Central Province.
