Independent media watchdogs urged to visit Tamil homeland

International media watch dogs, not funded by State actors or Corporates, are urged to visit Northern and Eastern Provinces in the island and record the failure of domestic investigation mechanisms of the present regime in Colombo in bringing justice to the killings, enforced disappearances and harassments that prevailed and continue to prevail against independent journalists in the occupied country of Eezham Tamils. Those who ordered the assassinations of leading reporters and those who took part in the executions are still being operated by the occupying SL military in Jaffna and other places, independent Tamil journalists who are not exposed to funded agendas in the North and East told TamilNet.
Many of the foreign media groups that claim to be independent media watchdogs are either being misled by the SL State or they are also operating along the lines of State- and Corporate centric agendas, which have always been discriminatory against Eezahm Tamils, the journalists said.
While the Colombo regime and the outside media watchdogs highlight the need for investigation of media workers assassinated in South, particularly during the regime of Mahinda Rajapaksa, there is no voice to demand international investigations on Tamil journalists who were assassinated by all the regimes of the genocidal SL State in the past.
A former SL Judge who has been compromised to collaborate with the SL military intelligence through a paramilitary group, both misled and waylaid the investigations on the investigations of the killing of Tamil journalist Nimalarajan during the regime of Chandrika Kumaratunga.
The investigations conducted on the assassination of TamilNet Senior Editor Sivaram Dharmeratnam (Taraki) need to be scrutinized, the journalists in North said.
Those who were deployed to assassinate Sivaram are still being operated and protected by the SL military intelligence, an informed reporter told TamilNet.
There are also those with command responsibilities with blood on their hands still deployed to monitor the reporters in the North and the East.
In the meantime, the new regime in Colombo is trying to create an army of reporters for its use throughout the island by opening up new funding mechanisms through its ministries.
Under these circumstances, the global watchdogs that are not operated by the powers or corporates should undertake fact-finding missions to the island to record the prevailing manipulations and the sophisticated nature of threats and intimidations still targeting the journalists in the occupied country of Eezham Tamils whose freedom of expression is threatened by the 6th Amendment to the SL Constitution, the journalists told TamilNet.
